Chandigarh: The body of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota was brought from Mansa to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh on Friday for a post-mortem examination.
The move came after the government reportedly fulfilled the conditions put forward by Jhota’s family. The family subsequently agreed to the post-mortem, following which his body was shifted to PGI.
According to the information available, the government also released activists Lakha Sidhana and Mohanjit Singh Sheron as part of the developments that led to the family agreeing to the procedure.
Jhota’s last rites are likely to be performed on Friday evening. Further details about the post-mortem and cremation arrangements are awaited.
