Gurdaspur: The Border Security Force and Punjab Police thwarted a major international drug smuggling attempt in a joint operation near Gurdaspur. Acting on precise intelligence, both agencies carried out a swift raid in Thetharke village, leading to the arrest of four traffickers and the recovery of five packets of heroin weighing nearly 10 kilograms. Officials also seized three mobile phones and two motorcycles used in the smuggling attempt.

Those arrested were identified as residents of Amritsar’s Pakha Tara Singh and Bhalla Colony, along with two others from Gurdaspur’s Manepur and Ballagan villages. This operation marks the fourth major success in six days for the BSF and Punjab Police, reflecting their strengthened crackdown on narcotics networks after a surge in cross-border smuggling activities.

Authorities hailed the operation as a major achievement, underscoring the close coordination, determination, and commitment of both agencies toward national security. They reaffirmed their resolve to intensify vigilance across the Punjab border and foil every attempt of drug smuggling into India.
