Chandigarh: For thousands of economically weaker families, the marriage of a daughter is a cherished dream that requires emotional as well as financial support. Standing firmly with such families, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier in fulfilling this dream through the Ashirwad Scheme.
Punjab Cabinet Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr. Baljit Kaur informed that during the current financial year 2026-27, financial assistance amounting to ₹65.20 crore has been released to 12,784 beneficiaries under the Ashirwad Scheme. She said the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to providing dignity, support and equal opportunities to daughters belonging to disadvantaged sections of society.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the scheme, ₹51,000 financial assistance is provided to every eligible beneficiary for the marriage of a daughter. She added that up to two daughters from the same family are eligible for the benefit, enabling more needy families to receive timely assistance.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously working for the welfare of every section of society and implementing people-centric schemes with the aim of creating a more inclusive and equitable Punjab.
