Amritsar: Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested three people and recovered 10 pistols and 1.022 kilograms of heroin during an operation targeting an alleged network involved in illegal arms smuggling and drug trafficking, Punjab Police said.
The seized weapons include three Glock 9mm pistols and seven .30-bore pistols. Police have registered a case at Cantonment police station in Amritsar and launched a wider investigation to establish the source of the weapons and narcotics and identify others allegedly connected to the network.
Preliminary findings suggest that the arrested individuals were in contact with smugglers based abroad who allegedly supplied illegal firearms. Investigators suspect the weapons were subsequently distributed among criminal elements, though these alleged links remain under investigation.
