Mumbai: The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the investigation into the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu, with police registering an attempt-to-murder case against three unidentified persons. The development comes a day after gunmen allegedly opened fire at the actor’s vehicle in Mumbai on Sunday evening, October 18.
According to officials, the case was initially registered by Juhu police before being transferred to the Crime Branch due to the seriousness of the offence. Investigators are examining multiple angles, including a possible connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Shroff escaped without gunshot injuries, while his driver and another person were injured in the incident. Police are continuing efforts to identify and trace the three alleged shooters.
What Sections Have Been Invoked In The Tiger Shroff Firing Case?
According to a police official, the First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with attempt to murder, and Section 3(5), concerning criminal acts carried out by several people in furtherance of a common intention.
Relevant provisions of the Arms Act have also been invoked.
The transfer to the Crime Branch places the investigation with the unit as officers work to establish the sequence of events, identify those involved and determine the motive behind the firing.
Tracking down the three unidentified suspects remains a key challenge for investigators, officials said.
Has The Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Claimed Responsibility?
A social media post circulating online has claimed responsibility for the attack in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, police have not yet verified the authenticity of the post.
Investigators are examining all possible angles, including whether the incident has any links to the gang. The social media claim should not be treated as confirmation of the attackers’ identities or motive until it is verified by authorities.
Police have not publicly established who ordered or carried out the firing, and the investigation remains underway.
