Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the state government is giving top priority to the development of villages. The government’s objective is to develop the villages of the state on the lines of cities. All basic amenities available in cities, including paved streets, drains, clean drinking water, street lights, parks, gyms, e-libraries and beautification of ponds, are also being provided in villages.
The Chief Minister visited his native village Mangoli Jattan in Kurukshetra district on Wednesday. During the visit, he inspected the village pond (Johad) in detail Nayab Singh Saini directed Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena to undertake the beautification of the pond and prepare a detailed action plan for the same. The Chief Minister also interacted directly with the villagers present at the site and listened to their concerns. Thereafter, he walked to the pond site to inspect the situation.
The villagers informed the Chief Minister that the Gram Panchayat had undertaken earth filling and constructed a shed near the pond. However, there is still a need for proper cleanliness, beautification and adequate seating arrangements at the site. They also apprised him that waterlogging becomes a problem during the monsoon season, causing inconvenience to residents living in the adjoining houses.
