Amritsar: Gangsters Goldy Dhillon and Jagga Tarn Taran have claimed responsibility for the fatal shooting of prominent Punjabi LGBTQ+ activist and social media influencer Mad Sandhu, also known as Madhusudan. The claim surfaced through an unverified social media post circulating widely online within hours of the deadly attack, prompting law enforcement authorities to examine its digital origin and authenticity.
The killing occurred on Saturday evening along Loharka Road in Amritsar when two unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle ambushed the 30-year-old creator near a car wash. The attackers opened fire at close range, discharging multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. Sandhu was discovered lying on the road in a pool of blood and succumbed to his gunshot injuries while being rushed to an area hospital for emergency treatment.
Sandhu, a popular makeup artist and digital fashion stylist with an extensive online presence, regularly championed LGBTQ+ rights and gender-fluid expression. His outspoken advocacy and creative style frequently drew severe homophobic harassment, online trolling, and targeted threats of violence across social networks.
The Amritsar Police Commissionerate has mobilised specialized investigation units to trace the perpetrators and analyse surveillance camera footage from around the crime scene. While investigators have not formally confirmed the gang’s involvement, the purported claim has heightened public concern surrounding the safety of digital creators and marginalized voices across Punjab.
