Chandigarh: Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa said that a new road will be constructed parallel to the railway elevated track in Kurukshetra to further improve the traffic management system in the city. The government has granted approval for the construction of this road.

He said that the proposed road will be constructed from LC-61C (near University Gate No. 3) to LC-65C (near the old bus stand). The road is proposed within the railway Right of Way and its construction will be subject to obtaining the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) and other statutory approvals from the Railways.

Minister Gangwa said that the proposed road will be approximately 3.20 kilometres long and 7 metres wide. The estimated cost of its construction will be around Rs. 5.75 crore.
Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa said that during major religious and public events in Kurukshetra, including the Gita Jayanti Mahotsav and solar eclipses, a large number of devotees and tourists visit the city, resulting in increased traffic pressure on the existing roads. The construction of the new road will provide an alternative route for traffic in the area and help reduce traffic congestion.

He said that the road will also facilitate the smooth movement of emergency services and help strengthen the overall traffic management system in Kurukshetra. Besides, it will reduce traffic pressure on the Saharanpur-Kurukshetra-Pehowa route and provide better traffic facilities to the general public over the long term.
