Palghar: Police in Maharashtra’s Palghar district have registered a criminal case against two 16-year-old boys for allegedly drugging a 17-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her near a beach in the Chinchani area. The incident occurred on September 26 and came to light following a formal police complaint lodged by the victim’s father at the Vangaon police station.
According to the complaint, the girl, a Class 12 student, had left her residence in the morning to attend private coaching classes ahead of college. The family was alerted around 3:30 p.m. when the mother received an urgent phone call from a local shopkeeper near Vangaon Naka. The shop owner reported seeing the teenager accompanied by two minor boys at an eatery, where the duo allegedly forced her to consume a spiked beverage before driving her away toward the Chinchani seafront in a vehicle.
Upon receiving the tip-off, the girl’s parents rushed to the beach, where they found their daughter in a dazed, semi-conscious state while one of the accused was behaving inappropriately with her. The victim’s father alleged that the two juveniles deliberately drugged his daughter to incapacitate her and carry out a sexual assault at the isolated shoreline.
Law enforcement authorities have booked both 16-year-old boys under relevant provisions for kidnapping under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alongside stringent sections for sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Police officials stated that an investigation is currently underway to ascertain further details and complete formal juvenile justice proceedings against the two accused.
