Chandigarh: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij said that farmers are the pride, honour and prestige of the nation, and every effort would be made to ensure that they face no inconvenience at grain markets. He directed the district administration to ensure smooth procurement of paddy and immediate lifting of the produce with moisture content below 17 per cent.
Vij was reviewing paddy procurement arrangements and facilities for farmers at the new grain market on GT Road in Ambala Cantonment. He personally inspected the paddy heaps and checked their moisture content. He instructed officials to ensure that paddy meeting the prescribed moisture criteria was procured promptly and lifted without delay so that adequate space remained available for farmers arriving with fresh produce.
During the programme, Vij issued a challenge, announcing a reward of ₹31,000 for anyone who could come forward and list the development works undertaken by him in Ambala Cantonment. He said the projects completed under his tenure were visible and spoke for themselves, adding that several tasks once considered impossible had been accomplished with the support and trust of the people.
