SFJ’s Pannu Issues New Threats: Slogans in Amritsar, Diwali Blackout Warning

Amritsar: Pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has once again stirred controversy, with its chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu releasing a fresh video message claiming responsibility for anti-India graffiti in Amritsar and issuing threats of large-scale disruptions during Diwali.

Pannu alleged that slogans in support of Khalistan and against the Gandhi family were spray-painted on the walls of the Amritsar District Court complex. Similar graffiti targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi was reportedly painted at the city’s railway station. He further escalated his rhetoric by declaring that this year’s Diwali, known for its grand celebrations, would be “plunged into darkness” through a supposed blackout stretching “from Ayodhya to Haridwar.”

“Rahul Gandhi, Raja Vading, and Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who stood by the killers of 1984, remain our prime targets,” Pannu said in the video, while making derogatory remarks against the Punjab Congress leaders. He accused AICC Punjab chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla of showing respect to the Gandhi family by presenting a Siropa despite their alleged role during the 1984 riots.

Pannu also claimed that Diwali at Ayodhya, where millions of lamps are traditionally lit, would be turned into “complete darkness,” describing the festival as a “symbol of Hindutva terrorism.”

Security Beefed Up

The inflammatory remarks have triggered alarm within law enforcement agencies. Punjab Police has heightened security across sensitive areas in Amritsar, while central agencies are closely monitoring developments. Investigations are underway to verify Pannu’s claims about the graffiti.

The SFJ’s repeated attempts to incite unrest have drawn sharp condemnation from political and social leaders, who accused the group of trying to disturb communal harmony.
