Ferozepur: In a major breakthrough under Punjab Police’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, Ferozepur police have arrested seven individuals and filed six cases, recovering a significant cache of narcotics and illegal weapons.

Notably, all the arrested suspects are under 30, highlighting the increasing involvement of youth in the drug and arms trade. The development has raised concerns among authorities and parents, emphasizing the urgent need for community awareness, preventive education, and vigilant parenting to steer young people away from drugs and criminal activities.

SSP Bhupinder Singh confirmed that four cases were registered under the NDPS Act, resulting in the seizure of 7.825 kilograms of heroin, a Glock pistol with a magazine, three live cartridges, one vehicle, two motorcycles, and two mobile phones. In one of the cases at Ferozepur City police station, Krishan Singh (25) of village Nial was arrested with 5.225 kg of heroin, a vehicle, and a mobile phone.

At Sadar police station, Rohit Kumar (19) from Hazara Singh Wala was apprehended with 1.542 kg of heroin, while his accomplice Sandeep Singh remains absconding. Rohit Kumar had previously been booked twice this year for possession of heroin and drug money.

Further arrests under NDPS included Kamal Kumar (21) and Rahul (23), caught with 1.009 kg of heroin and a motorcycle. Another case at Sadar police station led to the seizure of 49 grams of heroin, a Glock pistol, three live cartridges, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone.

In addition, two cases under the Arms Act resulted in the arrest of three suspects. At Zira police station, Pippal Singh (27) was apprehended with a country-made .32 bore pistol, while at Mallanwala police station, Lovepreet Singh (24) and Angrez Singh (27), both from Tarn Taran, were nabbed with a pistol and a Swift car. Investigations revealed that the Glock pistol was procured from a person in Arif Ke village, whose identity has been established for imminent arrest.

SSP Bhupinder Singh praised the coordinated efforts of SPs, DSPs, SHOs, and CIA staff, reaffirming the Ferozepur police’s commitment to intensify the crackdown on narcotics and illegal arms. He urged public cooperation in the fight to create a drug-free Punjab.
