Chandigarh: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Punjab later this month for a two-day visit to Dera Beas, a well-known spiritual and social service center in Amritsar district. According to sources, she will take part in the annual Bhandara on September 27 and remain at the Dera until September 28. The President is expected to arrive by a special helicopter arranged for her travel.

During her stay, President Droupadi Murmu will meet Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon and Sir Jasdeep Singh Gill. The meeting is likely to focus on the organization’s ongoing initiatives in social welfare, including education, healthcare, and humanitarian aid. Discussions on the Dera’s contribution to community service and its role in supporting people during challenging times are also anticipated.

In view of the high-profile visit, the Punjab administration has ramped up preparations. Security has been tightened, with multiple agencies coordinating to ensure smooth arrangements. Special forces are being stationed at key points inside and outside the premises, and surveillance systems are being installed for enhanced monitoring.

The President’s visit holds symbolic importance as Dera Beas has for decades been recognized for its large-scale voluntary work in blood donation drives, medical camps, and other welfare activities. Officials believe that Murmu’s visit reflects her appreciation for the Dera’s consistent efforts in serving society.
