Chandigarh: The family of Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk has dismissed circulating media claims that the artist was targeted in a shooting following his recent concert in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Speaking to reporters, Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, addressed the reports directly, calling claims of gunfire directed at his son inaccurate and confirming that neither the singer nor his vehicle was struck.
The clarification comes in the wake of widespread reports suggesting the performer came under attack while travelling after his performance at the Rogers Forum. A close relative travelling alongside Virk during his Canadian tour also refuted allegations that their group was targeted, reassuring the public that the artist, his entourage, and family members are completely safe.
The Abbotsford Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a shooting incident in the 2500-block of McCallum Road shortly after 11 p.m., where several rounds were fired at a vehicle. Investigators noted that no injuries were reported from the scene. While authorities acknowledged the targeted nature of the shooting, they have withheld the identities of the occupants inside the vehicle, citing privacy considerations.
Police are also investigating whether a torched SUV discovered about five kilometres away on Sunnyside Place shortly after the shooting is connected to the incident. As the Major Crime Unit continues to review dashcam footage and gather witness statements, the statement from Virk’s family represents the first direct rebuttal from the singer’s camp, seeking to put unverified speculation to rest.
