Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to roll out an extensive 12-day state-wide yatra across Punjab from September 18 to September 30, marking a major political outreach drive ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and national party president Nitin Nabin will headline the campaign, which aims to galvanize grassroots cadres and consolidate the party’s footprint across all 117 legislative constituencies.

The mass outreach programme will be flagged off simultaneously from four carefully selected locations on September 18 before culminating at a temple in Jalandhar. Party strategists noted that the four origin points were chosen deliberately to weave together religious reverence, military valour, and the party’s foundational ideological heritage.

The first leg of the yatra will commence from Talwandi Sabo, the historic seat of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, one of the five temporal seats of Sikhism. The second route will start from Fatehgarh Sahib, a site sacred to the memory and supreme martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh.

The third leg will set out from the Vir Bhoomi memorial in Fazilka, which commemorates the fierce hand-to-hand combat between Indian and Pakistani soldiers during the 1971 war. The fourth contingent will begin its march from the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee memorial at Lakhanpur near Pathankot along the Jammu and Kashmir border, honouring the Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder who was arrested there in 1953 while challenging permit restrictions.

The formal title of the campaign will be finalized during the state core committee meeting on September 13. Senior party leaders view the mass mobilization as an early declaration of the party’s intent to contest all 117 assembly seats independently, reiterating that there will be no electoral pact or alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal for the 2027 polls. State unit president Kewal Dhillon and general secretary Manthri Srinivasulu are conducting preparatory meetings across district units to coordinate logistical arrangements, route maps, and reception stops for visiting central leaders.
