New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan along with the 8th Poshan Maah on September 17, aimed at strengthening healthcare and nutrition services for women, adolescent girls, and children across India, according to a PIB communique.

The initiative is jointly led by the ministries of health and family welfare and women and child development. The health ministry will deliver preventive, promotive, and curative services through nationwide health camps and facilities, while the women and child development ministry will integrate Poshan Maah activities with the campaign, mobilising women and adolescent girls via Anganwadi centres, and leading nutrition counselling and recipe demonstrations.

According to PIB, the campaign will strengthen screening, early detection, and treatment linkages for anaemia, tuberculosis, non-communicable diseases, and sickle cell disease. It will also promote maternal, child, and adolescent health through antenatal care, immunisation, menstrual hygiene awareness, nutrition counselling, and mental health activities. Obesity prevention, healthy lifestyle practices, and voluntary blood donation are also core components.

Health Minister JP Nadda said the purpose of the initiative is to expand healthcare access, ensure better quality care, and raise awareness. He appealed to private hospitals and healthcare stakeholders to actively participate in this Jan Bhagidaari Abhiyaan.

The campaign will run from September 17 to October 2 at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, district hospitals, and other government facilities. At least 100,000 health camps will be organised, making this the largest ever health outreach for women and children in India.

Specialist services such as gynaecology, paediatrics, ENT, dental, dermatology, and psychiatry will be mobilised through medical colleges, central government hospitals, and private sector facilities. Institutions such as AIIMS, Defence and Railway hospitals, ESIC hospitals, CGHS centres, and Institutes of National Importance will also support the campaign.

Public representatives including Union and state ministers, MPs, local leaders, and volunteers from ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadis, SHGs, PRIs, urban local bodies, and youth groups will spearhead community mobilisation at the grassroots.
