Amritsar: Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi landed in Amritsar on Monday to personally assess the damage caused by the recent floods in Punjab, as several districts continue to grapple with waterlogging, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted livelihoods.
Gandhi’s visit comes amid growing concern over the extent of the devastation in flood-hit regions and the effectiveness of relief efforts. He is expected to tour severely affected areas, meet with displaced families, and hold discussions with local officials and Congress party workers involved in ground-level assistance.
Raja Warring is slated to visit multiple flood-impacted locations across various cities.
Meetings with Farmers and Relief Volunteers
During his visit, Rahul Gandhi will also interact with farmers who have suffered massive crop losses due to waterlogged fields, especially in rural parts of Majha and Doaba regions. Several families have been forced to abandon their homes, and early estimates suggest that thousands of acres of standing paddy and cotton have been destroyed.
