Chandigarh: Punjab is likely to witness another spell of monsoon activity on Monday, with rain forecast across several parts of the state. Chandigarh is also expected to remain partly cloudy, with the possibility of showers and thundershowers during the day.
The latest weather outlook indicates that the monsoon remains active over the region. The weather system is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall to a number of districts, although the intensity and coverage may vary.
The state’s maximum temperature has fallen marginally, with a decline of around 0.2 degrees Celsius, bringing temperatures closer to seasonal levels. Bathinda recorded the highest maximum temperature at 39°C.
Rain Expected in Several Punjab Districts
According to the forecast, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar may receive light to moderate rainfall. Isolated showers are also possible in Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Mohali, Ferozepur and Sangrur.
Rain is also likely in Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, while scattered showers may occur over Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala and Mansa.
The weather conditions are being influenced by an active monsoon pattern over Punjab and Chandigarh. A monsoon trough extending through the region, along with an upper-air cyclonic circulation over parts of Haryana and adjoining areas, is supporting moisture movement and cloud development.
Anandpur Sahib Records Highest Rainfall
The previous day’s rainfall brought significant showers to parts of Punjab. Anandpur Sahib recorded the highest rainfall at 46.5 mm.
Other locations that received rain included KVK Pathankot, which recorded 18 mm, Ropar KVK with 17.5 mm, Bhakra Dam with 14 mm, Mohali with 9 mm, Thein Dam with 3 mm, Hoshiarpur with 2.5 mm and Gurdaspur with 2 mm.
Rainfall was recorded at eight locations in total. Despite weather conditions remaining favourable for showers in Chandigarh and Mohali, the two areas did not receive measurable rainfall during the period.
Dams Remain Below Danger Mark
Amid the continuing rainfall activity, all major dams in Punjab are reported to remain below their respective danger marks, providing some relief amid concerns over water levels during the monsoon season.
Weather officials, however, continue to monitor rainfall patterns as showers over catchment areas can influence river and reservoir levels.
With the monsoon remaining active, residents in areas expecting rain may experience temporary changes in temperature and humidity. Authorities are also keeping watch on water bodies and drainage systems in areas that receive heavier spells.
