Chandigarh: The Mahabharat Anubhav Kendra at Jyotisar, Kurukshetra, has emerged as a major cultural and tourism landmark of Haryana, showcasing the rich heritage of the Mahabharata and the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.The centre was inaugurated by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The inauguration of the Mahabharat Anubhav Kendra marks an important milestone in the continued development of Kurukshetra as a prominent centre of spiritual, cultural and heritage tourism. The facility provides visitors with an immersive experience of the Mahabharata through a combination of traditional storytelling, artistic presentation and modern technology, with a focus on cultural interpretation, experiential learning and the promotion of heritage tourism.
Situated at Jyotisar, the sacred land traditionally associated with Lord Krishna’s delivery of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna, the Mahabharat Anubhav Kendra has been developed as an immersive cultural and tourism destination. It seeks to present the epic narrative of the Mahabharata and the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita to visitors through a combination of traditional storytelling and modern technology.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs. 240 crore, the centre is spread across approximately 17 acres, with more than 1,00,000 square feet of indoor space. The project uses advanced technologies, including Augmented Reality (AR), 3D laser technology, projection mapping, holographic presentations and immersive visual experiences, to bring important episodes of the Mahabharata to life.
The centre presents the epic in an engaging format, enabling visitors to experience important events, characters and philosophical themes associated with the Mahabharata. Its immersive galleries are designed to appeal to pilgrims, tourists, students, researchers and families while providing a contemporary interpretation of India’s ancient cultural heritage.
