Amritsar: Two members of a family sustained injuries late Thursday night after unidentified assailants hurled a grenade at their residence in Jatta village, located in Punjab’s Amritsar district. The late-night explosion triggered widespread panic across the rural neighbourhood as local authorities were immediately alerted.
According to preliminary reports, the attackers arrived on a motorcycle, threw the explosive device into the compound of the house, and sped away under the cover of darkness. Both injured family members were promptly evacuated from the scene and transported to a nearby medical facility for emergency care.
Law enforcement officers reached the spot shortly after the blast to secure the premises and initiate a comprehensive probe. Investigators are questioning the victims’ family members and local residents to determine if the attack stems from a personal dispute or other motives. Special police teams are also analyzing security camera footage from routes leading into and out of the village to identify the suspects and track their escape route.
