Islamabad (Pakistan): Incarcerated former Pakistan prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan met his wife, Bushra Bibi, and his sister, Noreen Niazi, at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Tuesday. The high-profile family interaction took place following an order from the Supreme Court of Pakistan granting the jailed leader weekly meetings with immediate family members to help manage his elevated blood pressure and anxiety.

Niazi’s meeting with Khan marked their first direct interaction in approximately nine months. The discussion lasted about 15 minutes, during which she enquired about his physical wellbeing, discussed ongoing legal developments, and briefed him on the apex court’s directives regarding his proposed transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad. In accordance with legal assurances submitted to the court, Niazi refrained from addressing the media following the interaction and left the prison alongside her sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan.

Khan also held a separate 35-minute meeting with his wife, Bushra Bibi, who is lodged in the same correctional facility. The visits were permitted after a three-member judicial bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed ruled that regular family access is a fundamental right rather than an administrative concession, stipulating that the visits remain free from public political posturing. The court’s directions have drawn widespread appreciation from party representatives and provincial leaders, who have urged authorities to swiftly facilitate Khan’s required medical care.
