Ferozepur: Panic gripped the Golden Enclave locality in Ferozepur city on Monday morning after a 65-year-old businessman, identified as Gurkirpal Singh, allegedly died by suicide using his licensed firearm. Local law enforcement authorities dispatched a team to the scene immediately upon receiving information to secure the premises and initiate a formal probe into the tragedy.
According to family members, the deceased followed a strict daily morning routine of waking up around 4:00 a.m. for daily prayers. On Monday, his brother noticed a slight deviation in the morning schedule before seeing Gurkirpal awake shortly afterward. After finishing his morning routine, the businessman went into his bedroom and closed the door behind him.
Moments later, the sound of a gunshot echoed from inside the locked quarters. Relatives quickly sought assistance from an upstairs tenant to force the door open, where they discovered Gurkirpal critically wounded from a bullet fired from his licensed .32-bore weapon.
Relatives shared that the businessman had been receiving medical care and prescription treatment for a persistent brain-related illness, though they noted there was no apparent immediate dispute or distress leading up to the incident. His wife and son were away visiting relatives at the time of the occurrence. The local police department has registered the matter and is reviewing all circumstantial evidence and statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
