Paris/New Delhi: French President Emmanuel Macron extended his warm greetings to the people of India on the landmark occasion of the nation’s 80th Independence Day, underscoring the deep-rooted civilisational and strategic bonds between Paris and New Delhi. The Embassy of France in New Delhi also marked the anniversary, highlighting the profound and lasting ties forged by diplomats and citizens who have experienced life across both countries.
The bilateral relationship between the two nations continues to expand following its elevation to a Special Global Strategic Partnership earlier this year. Cooperation across key domains—including defence, civil nuclear technology, clean energy, space exploration, and deep tech—has gained further momentum under initiatives such as the shared Year of Innovation. High-level bilateral exchanges between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Macron have underscored India’s growing role as an indispensable global partner in France’s technological and industrial roadmap.
Strategic and security collaboration remains a central foundation of the partnership, marked by major milestones such as the induction of the Rafale fighter fleet and the completion of the P-75 Scorpene submarine construction programme for the Indian Navy. Both nations are also broadening their joint efforts to advance decarbonised energy solutions, exploring cooperation in Small Modular Reactors alongside broader multilateral climate and solar initiatives.
