Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Ms. Arti Singh Rao said that the State is strengthening its resolve towards a ‘TB-Mukt Bharat’. To give further momentum to efforts for the eradication of tuberculosis (TB), Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly from across the State have also joined the campaign.
She said that on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, the Haryana Health Department has reiterated its commitment to making the State ‘TB-Mukt’ and further strengthening the fight against TB. A community-based and coordinated approach is being promoted to take TB eradication efforts to the grassroots level and ensure wider public participation.
Ms. Arti Singh Rao further said that considering the serious public health impact of TB and the need for sustained and coordinated efforts at the grassroots level for its eradication, MPs and MLAs from every district of Haryana have been associated with the ‘TB-Mukt Bharat Campaign’ as district-level chairpersons.
She said that elected representatives have a direct and extensive connect with the community, and their role as district-level chairpersons will be important in creating greater awareness about TB, actively engaging communities in the campaign, motivating people to undergo timely testing and treatment, dispelling social misconceptions and stigma associated with TB, and ensuring effective coordination of TB eradication activities at the district level.
The Health Minister said that the initiative aims to bring elected representatives, the Health Department, local bodies, community organisations and the general public on a common platform to make efforts towards TB eradication more effective and give them the shape of a mass movement. Active participation of public representatives will help take the message of TB prevention, timely detection and completion of treatment to every section of society, she said.
Ms. Arti Singh Rao said that Haryana has made significant progress in TB detection, testing and treatment under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). The State is continuously accelerating its TB eradication efforts through improved case detection, strengthened diagnostic facilities, effective treatment outcomes and increasing community participation. However, she said, complete eradication of TB will be possible only when shared responsibility and collective participation are ensured at every level of society.
The Health Minister appealed to the people to join hands for a ‘TB-Mukt Haryana’ and contribute towards building a healthier State and a ‘TB-Mukt Bharat’.
District-Level Chairpersons for TB-Mukt Bharat Campaign
Meanwhile, a district-wise list of chairpersons has been released under the ‘TB-Mukt Bharat Campaign’ to provide fresh momentum to ongoing efforts for the eradication of tuberculosis. The responsibility of leading the campaign at the district level has been entrusted to elected representatives, including MPs and MLAs, so that they can monitor health services at the local level and facilitate effective implementation of the campaign in their respective districts.
Bhiwani MLA Ghanshyam Saraf has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Bhiwani, while Bawani Khera MLA Sh. Kapoor Singh will lead the campaign in Bawani Khera.
In Faridabad, Ballabhgarh MLA Mool Chand Sharma, Faridabad NIT MLA Satish Kumar Phagna and Badkhal MLA Dhanesh Adlakha has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad NIT and Badkhal, respectively. In Gurugram, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar, Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary and Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Sohna, Pataudi and Gurugram, respectively.
MLA Vinod Bhayana has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Hansi, while Hisar MLA Savitri Jindal and Nalwa MLA Randhir Panihar will lead the campaign in Hisar and Nalwa, respectively.
Bahadurgarh MLA Rajesh Joon has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Jhajjar. In Jind, MLA Devender Chatar Bhuj Attri and MLA Ram Kumar Gautam has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Jind.
Pundri MLA Satpal Jamba has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Kaithal. In Karnal, Indri MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand, Assandh MLA Yoginder Singh Rana and Nilokheri MLA Bhagwan Dass has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Indri, Karnal, Assandh and Nilokheri, respectively.
MP Naveen Jindal has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Kurukshetra. In Mahendragarh, Narnaul MLA Om Prakash Yadav and Mahendragarh MLA Kanwar Singh Yadav will lead the campaign in Narnaul and Mahendragarh, respectively.
In Nuh, MP Sanjay Bhatia and MLA Mohammad Ilyas has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Nuh district. In Palwal, Hodal MLA Harinder Singh and MLA Sh. Mohammad Israyeel will lead the campaign in Hodal and Palwal, respectively.
Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Panchkula. In Panipat, Panipat MLA Parmod Kumar Vij and Samalkha MLA Manmohan Bhadana has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Panipat and Samalkha, respectively.
In Rewari, Rewari MLA Laxman Singh Yadav, Kosli MLA Anil Yadav and Bawal MLA Dr. Krishna Kumar will lead the campaign in Rewari, Kosli and Bawal, respectively.
MP Dharambir Singh has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Rohtak, while MP Subhash Barala will lead the campaign in Sirsa. In Sonipat, Rai MLA Krishna Gahlawat, Kharkhoda MLA Pawan Kharkhoda, Ganaur MLA Devender Kadyan and Sonipat MLA Nikhil Madaan has been given the responsibility of leading the campaign in Rai, Kharkhoda, Ganaur and Sonipat, respectively.
In Yamunanagar, Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora and Sadhaura MLA Renu Bala will lead the campaign in Yamunanagar and Sadhaura, respectively. The initiative is expected to accelerate TB eradication efforts across all 23 districts and police/administrative areas of the State. The direct involvement of elected representatives is also expected to help ensure better access to and delivery of health services to the people at the grassroots level.
