Fazilka: In a significant breakthrough against cross-border crime, the Fazilka Police have dismantled an arms smuggling operation allegedly connected to handlers across the Pakistan border. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a large cache of weapons.

Acting on a specific intelligence input, police teams carried out a targeted operation, recovering 18 pistols, 1,847 live cartridges, and 42 magazines. Authorities believe the arrested suspects were operating under the guidance of handlers based outside India, possibly linked to organised smuggling syndicates with international roots.

Senior police officials confirmed that the arrests mark a crucial step in disrupting a broader smuggling network that spans international borders. “The operation was driven by precise intelligence, and the recovery indicates a well-organised supply chain operating with external support,” an official stated.

The investigation has now turned to uncovering both the upstream suppliers and downstream recipients of the smuggled arms. Police teams are working to map the full extent of the network, identify other operatives involved, and determine the final destination and intended use of the recovered weapons.

The Punjab Police reiterated their firm stance against transnational criminal activity. “We are committed to dismantling every link of such cross-border smuggling operations. Ensuring the safety and security of Punjab remains our top priority,” a police spokesperson added.

Further inquiries are ongoing, and more arrests are expected as the probe continues to expand.
