Kullu: The Kullu administration ordered the immediate closure of all educational institutions across the Kullu Sub-Division on Tuesday, following an Orange Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy to very heavy rainfall. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Jaibanti issued the office order under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, citing safety concerns for students and staff due to widespread precipitation, flash flood risks, and multiple landslide incidents causing road blockages.
The closure order applies across the sub-division to all primary and secondary schools, Anganwadi centres, degree colleges, ITIs, polytechnic institutes, engineering colleges, and pharmacy institutions. However, the administration clarified that ongoing board examinations for all classes will proceed as scheduled without interruption. District education authorities, local police, and institute heads have been instructed to monitor field conditions closely and implement precautionary measures as active monsoon conditions persist across Himachal Pradesh.
