Jalandhar: In a major breakthrough against cross-border terror networks, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar, operating jointly with SBS Nagar Police, has busted an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module, Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced on Monday. The joint operation led to the arrest of a key operative and the recovery of an 86-P hand grenade, successfully foiling a planned attack in the state.
According to preliminary investigation details released by the police, the arrested suspect was acting on instructions received directly from foreign-based handlers linked to the banned outfit. The accused allegedly retrieved the high-explosive 86-P hand grenade from a Dead Letter Box (DLB) location situated near Adampur in Jalandhar district, which was coordinated by his overseas handlers. A Dead Letter Box is a covert drop-and-retrieval mechanism frequently utilized by terror cells and criminal syndicates to exchange weapons, funds, and instructions without direct physical contact.
Following the arrest and weapon recovery, law enforcement authorities registered a First Information Report at Police Station Sadar Nawanshahr in SBS Nagar under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosive Substances Act. Senior police officials stated that comprehensive investigations are underway to trace forward and backward linkages, identify local logistical supporters, and uncover the full operational network managed by foreign-based handlers.
