Chandigarh: The Haryana government has directed all its officials who have been allotted government residential accommodation in Chandigarh to submit a certificate declaring that they have not sublet their houses and are occupying them themselves, according to a circular issued by the Chief Secretary’s office on Thursday. The circular, issued by the Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi said the Secretary of the House Allotment Committee, U.T., Chandigarh, had informed the government that the committee was receiving complaints of subletting, unauthorised occupation, misuse and unauthorised alterations in government residential accommodation allotted from the General Pool to employees of the Punjab and Haryana governments, the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Chandigarh Administration across various sectors of the union territory.

To discourage such misuse, the government said it had decided to seek a certificate from all government servants to whom houses have been allotted by the U.T. Chandigarh administration and the Haryana government, confirming that they have not sublet the accommodation and are occupying it themselves. The circular directed all administrative secretaries, heads of departments, the Haryana Public Service Commission, the Haryana Staff Selection Commission, the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, the Director General of Police, the ADGP (CID) and the Engineer-in-Chief of the PWD (B&R) branch, among other offices, to obtain the certificate from government servants under their administrative control who have been allotted government houses.
