Mau: Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district have arrested a married woman and her associate in connection with the fatal stabbing of her former partner inside a rented residential apartment, while a search remains underway for a third suspect who fled the scene. Authorities identified the victim as Asgar Ali, a resident of Jangipur village located in the neighbouring Ghazipur district. Ali’s body was discovered early Monday morning inside a rented accommodation in the Kanshiram Colony area, falling within the jurisdictional limits of the Sarailakhansi police station. Preliminary forensic examinations confirmed that the deceased sustained fatal stab wounds to the chest, prompting local law enforcement to launch an immediate homicide investigation to identify the perpetrators and establish the underlying motive.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Additional Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar provided details regarding the criminal investigation, revealing that the killing stemmed from a complex interpersonal dispute, jealousy, and romantic rivalry. According to police records, the primary accused woman, identified as Shahzadi, had been living separately from her husband for approximately two and a half years. During her period of marital separation, she initially formed a close relationship with Asgar Ali. However, after the duo experienced a bitter personal fallout, Shahzadi severed ties with Ali and subsequently became involved with another individual, Akash Rao, while also maintaining contact with a third acquaintance, Suraj Rajbhar.

Investigating officers established that conflict escalated after Ali strongly objected to Shahzadi’s new relationship with Rao and allegedly physically assaulted her during a confrontational argument. Following the physical altercation, Shahzadi and Rao conspired alongside Rajbhar to execute a premeditated plan to eliminate Ali. In furtherance of their plot, the group arranged a rented room in Kanshiram Colony to serve as the location for the attack. At approximately 4:40 AM on Monday, Rao and Rajbhar arrived at the designated room where Ali was present. Rajbhar forcibly restrained and overpowered the victim, enabling Rao to plunge a sharp-edged weapon directly into Ali’s chest, causing fatal injuries that resulted in his immediate death.

Following the fatal assault, the two male suspects immediately escaped the crime scene riding on a two-wheeler motor scooter, while Shahzadi vacated the premises shortly thereafter to avoid raising suspicion among local residents. Police tracking teams managed to locate and apprehend both Shahzadi and Suraj Rajbhar during subsequent raid operations, during which officers also impounded the scooter believed to have been utilized as the getaway vehicle. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that intensive search procedures are currently active to trace Akash Rao, who remains absconding and possesses a prior criminal record. Additional Superintendent of Police Kumar emphasized that further legal proceedings and forensic recoveries, including locating the murder weapon, remain ongoing as investigators compile evidence for trial.
