Ferozepur: With floodwaters gradually subsiding, the Punjab Government along with the Ferozepur district administration has ramped up relief and rehabilitation measures for affected families.

Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma stated that revenue officials are conducting detailed surveys to evaluate crop damage, home losses, and other hardships. “No farmer affected by crop losses will be left without compensation,” she affirmed.

To date, the Food and Civil Supplies Department has distributed 8,657 ration kits, while Markfed has supplied 13,692 bags of cattle feed. Families in relief camps are also receiving essential items, medicines, tarpaulins, and fodder for livestock.

Health teams are actively conducting fogging operations and running medical camps to prevent the spread of vector-borne and waterborne diseases. Authorities have also issued directions to repair damaged roads and maintain an uninterrupted supply of drinking water.

Regarding the water situation, the DC noted that levels at the Harike and Hussainiwala headworks are steadily decreasing, with 200,103 cusecs released from Harike and 216,685 cusecs from Hussainiwala today. She described the receding water as “a relief” for the surrounding villages.
