Chandigarh: Haryana Cooperation Minister Dr Arvind Sharma on Monday congratulated the state’s athletes, their coaches and families for winning 11 medals, including seven gold, two silver and two bronze, at the Commonwealth Games, saying their outstanding performance has brought laurels to both Haryana and the nation.
He said the athletes have once again showcased Haryana’s sporting excellence on the global stage through their talent, discipline and hard work. Their remarkable achievement, he added, is a matter of immense pride for the entire state and will inspire future generations of sportspersons.
Dr Arvind Sharma said winning seven gold medals and a total of 11 medals is a proud moment for Haryana and reflects the abundance of sporting talent in the state. He said the athletes have once again demonstrated that determination, discipline and relentless hard work enable Haryana’s sportspersons to excel at the highest international level.
The Minister said Haryana’s women athletes played a particularly significant role in the state’s success. Besides winning medals, they have set an inspiring example for young girls across the state, proving that given equal opportunities and the right platform, daughters can excel in every field and bring glory to the nation.
Dr Arvind Sharma said a positive sporting ecosystem has emerged in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, with initiatives such as Khelo India providing young athletes greater opportunities to develop their talent. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government is continuously working to provide better infrastructure, facilities and incentives to sportspersons.
He said the state’s performance at the Commonwealth Games is not merely a tally of medals but a reflection of Haryana’s sporting talent, perseverance and determination. Athletes from villages and small towns are now making the country proud on the international stage by bringing honour to the Tricolour.
The Minister said the government remains committed to providing every talented young sportsperson in the state with quality training, improved sports infrastructure and greater opportunities to excel. He expressed confidence that Haryana’s athletes would continue to uphold the nation’s pride and bring further glory to the state in the years to come.
