Government Ready for Fresh Talks With CJP as Student Protest Movement Continues

New Delhi: The Centre has expressed its willingness to resume discussions with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) as the student protest movement continues across the country. Government sources said on Thursday that they had received a letter from the organisation seeking another round of talks.

According to sources, the communication was received on Thursday morning, with further details about the proposed discussions expected to be shared later in the day.

The development comes days after CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke maintained that any fresh negotiations should take place at the protest site rather than requiring the students to travel to the government’s venue.

Responding to the demand, government sources indicated there was no objection to the location of the meeting, remarking that “these are not India-Pakistan talks that a neutral place has to be chosen,” signalling flexibility over where the discussions could be held.

Earlier, on July 20, representatives of the CJP held two meetings with Union Health Minister JP Nadda. However, the discussions failed to produce a breakthrough, with the student-led agitation continuing for several days afterward.

Sources further indicated that JP Nadda is likely to represent the government in the next round of negotiations as efforts continue to find a resolution to the ongoing protests.

The proposed talks come amid sustained demonstrations by students, who have been pressing the government over their demands. Whether the fresh dialogue results in a breakthrough remains to be seen.
