Two Nihangs Arrested in Mohali Over Murder of 63-Year-Old Man, Two Still Absconding

Mohali (Punjab): Police have arrested two Nihangs in connection with the brutal murder of a 63-year-old man in Sohana, Mohali. The accused, identified as Harnoor Singh and Tarmpreet Singh, were taken into custody from Sector 70, Mohali, DSP Harsimran Bal confirmed on Sunday. Two other suspects remain on the run.

According to investigators, the violence followed a heated dispute earlier in the day at a local gurdwara between the victim, Paramjit Singh, and Harnoor’s father. Later, Harnoor and his associates allegedly followed Paramjit Singh’s family.

Just 50 meters from their residence, the attackers intercepted the family’s car. Family members said the accused struck Paramjit Singh through the car window with a sword. When relatives and neighbors rushed to help, they too were attacked. The assailants fled once more people gathered at the scene.

Police teams intercepted the two accused during patrol and arrested them. Both were produced in court and remanded to two days in police custody. Raids are ongoing to locate the absconding suspects. Officials added that the post-mortem report of the deceased is awaited.
