Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Punjab on September 9 to personally review the flood-hit areas and assess the situation on the ground.

BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar said the Prime Minister is “deeply concerned” about the crisis and is monitoring developments closely. The visit aims to ensure that maximum relief and assistance reach the affected people.

Jakhar added that Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had earlier been sent to evaluate the conditions. Two central teams have already toured the affected regions and will soon submit detailed reports on the extent of damage to the Centre.

“The Government of India stands firmly with the people of Punjab,” Jakhar said, underlining the Centre’s commitment to extend all possible support during the crisis.

The floods have caused widespread damage across parts of Punjab, displacing families and affecting livelihoods. The state government and central agencies continue to coordinate relief and rehabilitation measures.
