Amritsar: In a compassionate move, the Punjab government has stepped in to provide free treatment for a child from a flood-affected family who has been suffering from kidney disease for the past three years. The treatment is being carried out at the Bebe Nanki Mother and Child Care Centre in Amritsar under the state’s healthcare support initiative.

Dr. Simranjit Kaur, who is overseeing the case, confirmed that the child’s treatment, earlier conducted at PGI Chandigarh, will now continue without any financial burden on the family.

“The Chief Minister has ensured that the child receives full medical support at no cost,” she told reporters, stressing that the government is committed to easing the hardships of families devastated by the floods.
