Amritsar: Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood arrived at Amritsar airport to begin his visit to Punjab’s flood-affected regions. Known for his humanitarian work during crises, Sood said he plans to tour some of the worst-hit districts to assess the ground reality and provide support to families struggling with the aftermath of the calamity.

Speaking to reporters before leaving for the field, Sood shared his itinerary, which includes stops at Baghpur, Sultanpur Lodhi, Firozpur, Fazilka, and Ajnala. “Many houses have collapsed, farmlands are ruined, and people’s livelihoods have been devastated. Since the rains continue, the recovery process is going to take months, not days,” he said.

The actor emphasized the importance of collective effort, urging more people to step forward to help rebuild Punjab. “This is not something one person or one group can achieve alone. We need many hands to come together if Punjab is to stand strong again,” he remarked.

Sood also mentioned that he will coordinate with local authorities to understand the specific needs of affected communities. He expressed his commitment to contribute towards rebuilding homes and supporting families whose lives have been upended. “I have no immediate plans to return. My priority is to reach the most impacted villages and stay involved in the recovery process,” he added.

The floods have left thousands displaced, damaged crops across large swathes of farmland, and created urgent needs for housing, food supplies, and medical assistance. Sood’s presence has brought a ray of hope to many villagers who see him not just as a celebrity, but as a helping hand in their time of crisis.
