Amritsar: In a significant breakthrough for regional security, the Counter Intelligence wing of the Amritsar police has successfully busted an illegal arms and explosives smuggling module. Operational teams intercepted the network, resulting in the arrest of three accused individuals. During the targeted operation, law enforcement authorities recovered a substantial cache of illicit weapons, including six hand grenades and 12 pistols, effectively neutralizing a immediate threat to public safety.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police reveal that the arrested individuals were operating under the direct guidance of a foreign-based smuggler. This handler is reportedly backed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence and overseas operatives associated with the banned Babbar Khalsa International terror outfit. Security officials disclosed that the lethal consignment of explosives and firearms had been smuggled into the region with the explicit motive of orchestrating disruptive activities aimed at destabilizing peace and harmony across Punjab.

Following the arrests, a formal case has been registered at the Police Station State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar. The suspects face charges under the Arms Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and various relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Senior officials stated that a comprehensive investigation is currently under way to map out the forward and backward linkages of the module. Security agencies are working to identify all local associates, uncover financial trails, and entirely dismantle the cross-border terror-criminal network, emphasizing their continuous endeavour to safeguard the security of the state.
