Union Minister Hands Over Sanction Letters to 31 PMAY-U 2.0 Beneficiaries
Chandigarh- Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s vision is that every poor family should have a permanent house of its own. He said that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 is a significant step towards realising this commitment.
Addressing a programme organised under PMAY-U 2.0 at the auditorium of the Karnal Municipal Corporation on Monday, the Union Minister said that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the Central Government is committed to providing dignified housing to every eligible family. He said that owning a home is a lifelong dream for every individual, and that a house is not merely a structure of four walls but the foundation of a family’s dignity, security and a better future. He added that the government is working with complete dedication to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the last person in the queue. On the occasion, Manohar Lal distributed sanction letters to 31 beneficiaries under the scheme.
PMAY-U 2.0 to Provide Permanent Homes for Eligible Families
The Union Minister said that PMAY-U 2.0 was launched on September 1, 2024, to provide permanent houses to economically weaker and eligible families. He said that the Central and Haryana Governments are jointly implementing several welfare schemes aimed at improving the living standards of poor families. He emphasised that the government’s priority is to ensure that every eligible person receives the benefits of the scheme without discrimination. To achieve this, the entire process has been made transparent and online. He urged beneficiaries to complete the construction of their houses within the stipulated timeframe and make proper use of the financial assistance provided by the government.
Transparent Selection Process Ensures Benefits Reach Genuine Beneficiaries
Manohar Lal said that both the Central and Haryana Governments are continuously working for the welfare of poor and needy families. He described PMAY-U 2.0 as a boon for families whose dream of owning a home had remained unfulfilled for years. He added that the beneficiary selection process has been made completely transparent to ensure that only genuinely eligible persons receive the benefits of the scheme. Congratulating the beneficiaries, he urged them to complete the construction of their houses within the prescribed timeline.
First Phase of PMAY-U 2.0 covers 2,174 Beneficiaries in Haryana
During the programme, the Union Minister formally handed over sanction letters to 31 beneficiaries. In the first phase of PMAY-U 2.0, applications of 2,174 beneficiaries across Haryana have been approved. Of these, 509 beneficiaries belong to the urban areas of Karnal district, while 80 eligible beneficiaries fall within the jurisdiction of the Karnal Municipal Corporation.
