Udhampur: The long-awaited Udhampur Airport Terminal Building project has taken a significant step forward, with the tender for its construction now officially floated. The update was shared by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who announced the development through a post on social media platform X.
According to the minister, the bidding process has already begun, and the technical bids are scheduled to be opened on July 10. The financial bids are expected to be examined around July 22, following which the final selection process will be completed.
Dr. Singh stated that if the process proceeds as planned, the contract for constructing the terminal building is likely to be awarded during the second week of August. This will pave the way for the next phase of infrastructure development at the airport.
The proposed terminal is expected to improve air connectivity in the region and strengthen transport infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. The project is also anticipated to support tourism, business travel, and regional economic growth by enhancing aviation facilities in Udhampur.
The announcement has generated optimism among local residents and stakeholders who have been awaiting progress on the airport project. Once construction begins, the terminal building will become a key component of efforts to expand civil aviation infrastructure in the region.
Officials are expected to complete the evaluation of bids within the prescribed timeline so that construction work can commence without delay after the contract is awarded. The project is being viewed as an important milestone in improving connectivity and boosting development in the Jammu region.
