Chandigarh- Haryana Cabinet Minister, Ranbir Gangwa on Saturday announced that a roundabout would be constructed in Barwala in the name of Sant Shiromani Kabir Das Ji Maharaj.

He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government is observing the birth anniversaries and other significant occasions associated with saints and great personalities with full dignity and reverence under the Sant-Mahapurush Vichar Prasar Yojana. Such programmes, he said, inspire the younger generation by familiarising them with the lives, struggles, sacrifices and noble ideals of these revered figures. The Cabinet Minister was addressing a function organised in Barwala on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Kabir Das Ji Maharaj.

Ranbir Gangwa said the Haryana Government is working with the spirit of Antyodaya and remains committed to improving the lives of last mile citizens. He said that ambitious welfare initiatives such as the Lado Lakshmi Scheme have been launched to bring meaningful change to the lives of economically weaker sections.

Describing Sant Kabir Das Ji as not only a saint but also a social reformer, eminent thinker and a true devotee of humanity, Ranbir Gangwa said that through his couplets and teachings, Kabir opposed social evils such as caste discrimination, untouchability, superstition and inequality, while promoting the values of love, equality, brotherhood and truth. He added that Kabir’s teachings are even more relevant in the present times.

Urging young people to pursue education, the Minister said that in today’s world, the greatest strength of any nation or society lies in its educated and capable citizens. A society can truly progress only when it ensures that its children are educated and skilled. Education, he said, is not merely a means of securing employment but the foundation for building better individuals and a stronger society, he said.

He further said that the State Government has accorded the highest priority to transparency and integrity in recruitment processes. Today, even a young person from the most modest background can secure a government job solely on the basis of hard work, dedication and merit. Success now depends only on merit and perseverance, a system that is strengthening the confidence of young people and enabling them to realise their aspirations.

On the occasion, Gangwa also accepted all the demands placed before him by members of the Dhanak community. He said construction of the community dharamshala is already underway and that works worth Rs. 21 lakh and Rs.13 lakh for the dharamshala and library, respectively, would be completed soon. He also announced that a community centre would be constructed for the Dhanak community.

Addressing the gathering, former Minister, Anoop Dhanak said the life of Sant Kabir Das teaches that a person’s identity is defined not by caste, religion or outward appearance, but by deeds, thoughts and conduct.
