The state leader began experiencing symptoms during the ongoing state legislative proceedings on Friday, yet initially persisted with official duties before his condition worsened and required immediate medical evaluation. Attending physicians have placed the Deputy Chief Minister under observation and strongly advised complete medical rest, with party officials confirming his condition is entirely stable and expecting his discharge later on Saturday.
The sudden health setback follows a period of highly intense political activity and rigorous travel for the Shiv Sena chief. Shinde has been at the center of execution for a series of high-profile political defections from the rival Thackeray faction, including the recent induction of six Members of Parliament and Mumbai MLC Sachin Ahir. The prolonged work schedule, compounded by multiple coordination trips to New Delhi, reportedly triggered the acute exhaustion. The illness forced the postponement of a scheduled party event in Thane on Friday afternoon where opposition leader Shubhangi Patil was slated to join the ruling faction, with Shinde’s son, Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde, ultimately stepping in to complete the late-night induction ceremony.
