Mansa: A horrifying incident has shaken the Mansa district of Punjab, where a woman allegedly strangled her three minor children to death before ending her own life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. According to local authorities, the deceased woman, identified as Sandeep Kaur, had lost her husband four years ago. Following her husband’s demise, she had been residing in a rented house along with her mother-in-law and her three young children. The tragic discovery was made when a relative noticed one of the family members weeping outside the house, prompting them to investigate further and subsequently inform the local police.
Upon receiving the information, a team from the City Two Police Station rushed to the spot, took custody of the four bodies, and initiated a detailed forensic investigation. Initial statements from the victim’s relative, Roshan Singh, revealed that they discovered Sandeep Kaur hanging inside the room and immediately brought her down before alerting the law enforcement authorities. The deceased children have been identified as thirteen-year-old Moto Kaur, eight-year-old Kalu Kaur, and a one-and-a-half-year-old infant named Vishwas.
The preliminary police investigation has revealed a deeply distressing sequence of events leading up to the fatalities. Investigating Officer Kulwant Singh from the City Two Police Station stated that initial findings suggest the mother may have first administered a poisonous substance to the children before strangling them to ensure they succumbed. Following the horrific act, she utilized a cloth to hang herself from the ceiling fan. While the exact motive behind this extreme step remains under investigation, the local police are currently recording statements from the extended family and neighbors to determine the underlying circumstances.
