Contract workers and outsourced staff will be treated fairly: Tarunpreet Singh Saund

Chandigarh : Punjab Power Minister Mr. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh, on Thursday, said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government  is committed to the welfare of employees as it has already announced to regularise contractual employees and convert outsourced workers to contractual status. The minister said that the decision is being implemented in a very transparent and impartial manner.

The Power Minister met with the representatives of three unions of PSPCL and PSTCL including Coordination (Tal-mel) Committee, Powercom Transco Outsourced Union and Outsourced Employees Federation. The minister reassured them that the state government is actively processing the regularisation of contractual staff, converting outsourced workers to contractual, besides fast-tracking their all other legitimate demands.

The minister informed that over 8,000 employees working in PSPCL and PSTCL to get benefit of this decision of the Punjab government. To ensure swift action, Power Minister directed administrative officers to expedite their processes and resolve all legitimate demands in a fast-track mode.

Meanwhile, CMD Dr. Basant Garg also assured the members of the employees unions that all their legitimate demands will be addressed systematically and the provisions of the ordinance will be followed precisely by the power department in the interest of employees. SSP Khanna Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia, Director (Generation) Er Punnerdeep Singh Brar among other officers and representatives of unions were also present during the meeting
