Chandigarh– Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Ashok Mittal, has described the ongoing floods in Punjab as one of the gravest tragedies in recent memory.

Mittal announced that the families of 43 people who lost their lives in the disaster will be offered permanent employment at LPU, with one eligible member per family receiving a job based on qualifications. Extending condolences to the bereaved, he assured them of complete support in overcoming this crisis.

Detailing the extent of damage, Mittal said that over 1,900 villages across Punjab have been badly hit, leaving more than four lakh acres of farmland submerged. The calamity has impacted residents in all 23 districts, creating widespread hardship.
