Applications Invited For National Awards To Teachers 2026: Apply Online By July 10

Chandigarh: The Union Ministry of Education has invited online applications for the National Awards to Teachers 2026, among the highest civilian honours conferred upon educators in the country. The award recognises and celebrates teachers who have demonstrated exceptional excellence, innovation and unwavering dedication to shaping the future of the nation through school education.

A Punjab School Education Department spokesperson said that interested teachers from the state of Punjab can register online at http://nationalawardstoteachers.education.gov.in. All regular teachers, school heads/incharges are eligible. The last date for registration is July 10, 2026.

Following the July 10 deadline, the District selection committee will screen the candidates. The State Selection Committee will further screen the shortlisted eligible teachers and forward six nominations to the Independent National Jury by July 31, 2026. The jury will select final awardees from the state nominees.

The shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their work, achievements and innovative teaching practices before the Independent National Jury. The presentation will showcase the nominee’s contributions to improving learning outcomes, adopting innovative pedagogies and fostering the holistic development of students. The teacher who secures the highest score based on a comprehensive evaluation matrix will be selected for the National Award.
