Shimla: The positive outcomes of the “Vyavastha Parivartan”, being implemented by the Himachal Pradesh Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, are now becoming increasingly evident on the economic front. Through fiscal discipline, improved resource management and a policy that prioritizes public welfare, the Congress government is expediting the settlement of long-pending financial benefits for government employees and pensioners.

For this purpose, State Government has released Rs. 212 crore towards medical reimbursement payments up to June 27 in the financial year 2026–27. Of this amount, Rs. 131.03 crore has been allocated for settling the medical reimbursement claims of pensioners, while Rs. 80.97 crore has been released for government employees.

Acting on the directions of the Chief Minister, the Finance Department has sanctioned these funds to ensure the early clearance of pending medical reimbursement claims of employees and pensioners. All employees and pensioners may contact their respective Drawing and Disbursing Officers regarding the status of their reimbursement payments.

The present government continues to take concrete steps for the welfare of employees and pensioners. By addressing long-pending financial liabilities in a phased manner, the Congress government has demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding the interests of employees and pensioners without compromise.

The Congress government has also provided significant relief to retired or deceased Class IV employees and their dependent families who retired after 2016. Pending arrears have been released for those whose basic monthly pension is up to Rs. 25,000 and whose family pension is up to Rs. 15,000 per month. In addition, on the Chief Minister’s directions, the government has ensured the complete payment of revised pension arrears for pensioners and family pensioners who retired before January 1st 2016.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the previous BJP government had received approximately Rs. 60,000 crore as additional financial assistance from the Central Government under the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) and GST compensation. Despite this substantial support, it failed to make timely payments of the 6th Pay Commission arrears and other financial dues to employees and pensioners.

In contrast, he said, the present Congress government placed the welfare of employees and pensioners at the forefront immediately after assuming office. The government took the historic decision to restore the Old Pension Scheme and with the improvement in the state’s financial position, is now ensuring the release of pending financial benefits to employees and pensioners.

The Chief Minister further said that the objective of the government’s ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’ extends beyond economic improvement. It also aims to strengthen the confidence of government employees, pensioners and the general public in the administration.
