Punjab Deploys Gazetted Officers in Flood-Hit Villages for Direct Public Grievance Redressal

Chandigarh – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced that a gazetted officer will be appointed for every flood-affected village in the state to ensure direct communication between residents and the administration.

Mann said the step is aimed at providing a channel for villagers to share their concerns with government representatives, enabling quick and effective solutions. “People affected by this natural disaster will be able to convey their problems directly, and we will ensure timely redressal,” he stated.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the move reflects the government’s commitment to stand with citizens during the recovery process. Punjab has faced extensive damage due to floods, with large-scale crop losses, destroyed homes, and displacement of families. By deploying senior officers at the village level, the state government hopes to streamline relief measures and restore normalcy.

Officials said these gazetted officers will act as nodal points, coordinating between villagers and various government departments to address immediate needs such as shelter, healthcare, and rehabilitation.

The announcement comes amid growing calls for efficient on-ground coordination in flood-hit areas, where residents continue to struggle with the aftermath of heavy rains and overflowing rivers.
