Chandigarh: Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister, Ranbir Gangwa has directed officers to ensure that all administrative, technical and financial formalities are completed during the monsoon season so that road construction and improvement works can be launched expeditiously as soon as weather conditions become favourable. He emphasised that special attention must be paid to quality and safety standards in all construction activities.

Chairing a review meeting with senior officers of the Public Works Department on Tuesday, Ranbir Gangwa reviewed the progress of Model Road projects proposed to be developed in all 22 districts of the state in accordance with the Chief Minister’s announcements and other departmental projects.

Officers apprised the Chief Minister that the total length of these Model Roads would be approximately 115 kilometres. These roads will be developed as ideal roads of the state, incorporating beautification measures, modern amenities and enhanced road safety features. Officers further said that surveys of the eight selected roads by expert agencies are expected to be completed in July. Administrative approval for the Model Road projects is also likely to be granted by July, following which construction work will commence.

During the meeting, officers also briefed the Minister on the progress of the department’s work programme for the year 2026-27. They informed him that out of the proposed 1,633 roads, estimates for 1,042 roads have already been prepared and submitted, while the process for the remaining roads is being completed on a priority basis.

Ranbir Gangwa directed officers to expedite all road construction and repair works. He stressed that all necessary documentation and procedural formalities should be completed during the rainy season itself. He further asserted that no compromise whatsoever would be tolerated with regard to the quality of road construction.

Reviewing the performance of the “Mhari Sadak” mobile application, the Minister directed the officers to incorporate details of all roads that are yet to be included on the platform. This, he said, would enable citizens to submit road-related complaints through the application and facilitate their prompt resolution. Officers informed the Minister that the department is developing a system through which citizens will be able to access detailed information about roads by scanning QR codes installed at the respective locations. Ranbir Gangwa directed officers to expedite this initiative as well.

The Minister further directed officers to undertake regular reviews of all projects, ensure their time-bound implementation and maintain complete transparency in execution. He said that providing the people of Haryana with a better, safer and more durable road network remains a priority of the government.

During the meeting, Ranbir Gangwa also directed officers to accelerate works being undertaken by the department in collaboration with the Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC). He reviewed various other departmental projects as well. The Minister specifically directed officers to expedite the construction of the new road proposed to connect Talwandi Rana with Hisar and reviewed the current status of the project.

Additional Chief Secretary, PWD (B&R), A.K. Singh, Additional Secretary, PWD (B&R), Hitesh Kumar Meena, Engineer-in-Chief Anil Dahiya and other senior officers also remained present on this occasion.
