Chandigarh — In a decisive breakthrough, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has secured control of the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC), with Gauravveer Sohal elected president. The win marks the first time in years that ABVP has captured the top post at Panjab University, signaling a major shift in campus politics.

Sohal maintained a strong lead throughout the counting process, with early trends already indicating ABVP’s dominance. Celebrations erupted at the university gymnasium even before the final results were formally declared.

The rest of the panel reflected a mixed outcome. Ashmeet Singh clinched the vice president’s seat, while Abhishek Dagar of the Students Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) secured the general secretary post. Independent candidate Mohit Manderana emerged victorious as joint secretary, highlighting a diverse mandate from students who opted across party lines.

The elections saw spirited participation, with over 16,000 students casting their ballots, underscoring the significance of the polls in shaping campus leadership for the coming year.
