Gurugram: Gurugram Police have initiated legal proceedings against comedian Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra in connection with a controversial online video that has drawn the attention of the National Commission for Women (NCW).

Acting on a complaint forwarded by the Commission, police registered a case under provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials said the matter is being treated seriously and a detailed investigation has been launched.

According to police sources, notices have been served to both accused individuals, directing them to join the investigation and cooperate with authorities. Law enforcement agencies are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the creation, publication and circulation of the content in question.

In addition to summoning the accused, police have also contacted social media platforms hosting the video and sought its removal pending further inquiry. Authorities are assessing whether the content violated legal provisions related to online publication and public conduct.

The FIR includes charges under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, along with Sections 294, 353(3), 75(2) and 75(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators will examine the applicability of these provisions based on digital evidence and statements collected during the probe.

Senior police officials stated that the investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Police Commissioner. Cyber experts and legal teams may also be involved in reviewing the content and tracing its dissemination across online platforms.

Authorities have not ruled out further action depending on the findings of the investigation. Police said all aspects of the complaint would be examined before any conclusions are reached.

The case has once again highlighted growing scrutiny over content shared on digital platforms and the responsibilities of creators in ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
